The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It is important for us to remember all the things that make Christmas at Holston Home such a sweet time of year for our children. Hearing from a young lady who spent several Christmas seasons in our care is so encouraging.

Elle emphasized that Christmas is when we celebrate Jesus’ birthday and said Christmas has never been about gifts for her.

“Although don’t get me wrong,” she joked. “The gifts are great!”

She told us that her very first Christmas at Holston Home was magical.

“I never knew that Christmas could be this loving and peaceful,” she shared. “Starting in October they begin decorating the campus. By the middle of November, the Holston campus is all decked out in Christmas stuff. Right around Thanksgiving, we have the lighting ceremony. Every year that I have been here for the lighting ceremony, I have always helped with it.”

Elle went on say that one of our pastors shared a verse which is meaningful to her during this time of year:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

“I don’t think I could ask for a better place to spend Christmas,” Elle said.
